WordPress 1.5 “Strayhorn”

Blog Tools, Web 3 Comments »

If you haven’t seen the news yet, WordPress 1.5 is officially available. Get it while it’s hot! Not sure when I’ll upgrade – possibly this weekend (just need to see which of the plugins I use are compatible with 1.5 and reapply my mods, which may be a little painful).

I must admit, I really do like WordPress – I just need to tweak my stylesheets a bit, install a few more plugins and my blog will finally be the way I want it. Stay tuned…

Uncapped ADSL

Just spotted that WebAfrica are now offering uncapped ADSL for R630 (about $105) a month. With Telkom line charges (a minimum of R449 for 384K, R680 for 512K) the grand total is over R1000 a month (more than $170) for a measly 384K connection. Aaargh! Competition, please arrive soon!

Raggle

I’ve been looking for a good curses-based RSS aggregator for some time now and today I stumbled upon something that looks like it may meet most of my requirements. Raggle is curses-based, written in Ruby and based upon my short period of usage seems very usable. It has a clean UI, sensible default keybindings and the development version in CVS also supports grouping feeds into categories.

I see that Independent Online, IMHO, South Africa’s best online news site now has RSS feeds of their news. Schweet!
