Home Network
Overview
My home network is probably a little extreme, but fairly typical for
a geek. I normally have
at least ten machines powered on, with servers providing services
such as DHCP (with failover), internal DNS (primary and secondary), WINS, NTP,
IMAP, SMTP (with content scanning), web proxying, NFS, Samba, etc.
The TCP/IP network is divided into three subnets, one for the internal LAN, one
for machines connected via wireless and one for the DMZ.
As you can probably guess from the list below, I'm a fan of
RISC workstations, particularly machines produced by
Sun Microsystems.
As someone once said
"if you can't connect a serial console to it, it ain't a computer".
Most systems run NetBSD, with a smattering
of Debian GNU/Linux.
My Computers
These are the machines that are currently in use on my network
and powered on 24/7.
There are a good number of others that are either in storage,
awaiting deployment or just being used for spare parts.
The naming convention isn't consistently applied, but it's supposed
to follow a conspiracy-theory/black projects theme.

Machines in Storage
Some of the
machines I have in storage include an SGI Indy, four
Sun Ultra 1s, a Sun Ultra 5, a dual SM81-2 SPARCstation 20, a DEC MicroVAX
3100, a pair of SPARCclassics, a pair of SPARCstation 2s, a pair of
SPARCstation 5s, a DEC Multia, an Apple Quadra 650, an HP B132, a Tatung
Mariner (Sun clone) and a Motorola PowerStack. I also have a dead AlphaServer
2100 that needs some TLC.
