About This Site

Hi, I’m Michael-John Turner (MJ for short). This site is my little corner of the web. It’s been around in various forms since 1995, which sorta makes me a veteran of these types of things. You’d think that by now I’d have something flashier than this…

About Me

I’m an independent IT consultant living in a small town just outside Godalming, Surrey in the United Kingdom with my wife Niki, two adult children and tuxedo cat Oli.

I enjoy tinkering with vintage 1980s/1990s vintage Unix workstations, contributing to the odd open source project and trying to work out why so many weeds love our lawn.

Curious about my hardware and software environment? Be curious no more o visitor!

About this Site

This site is generated using Jekyll, which I rather like. The look and feel are based on a modified version of the So Simple theme by Michael Rose. All posts are edited using vim, version controlled in git.

This site is hosted on a VPS at Linode - I’ve been using them since 2005 and couldn’t recommend them highly enough. I also have several VPSes with Digital Ocean and they also come highly recommended.
